Star-crossed
There are walls around my heart
And though my blood flows freely,
It is locked down by the gripping cage
Of this undeniable feeling.
Smoke in the midst of mist
How can I tell wrong from right,
If truth in my eyes
Is the devil in yours?
Just listen to my bleeding ears,
My voice is already too hoarse.
A picture-perfect fantasy
I cannot afford.
Sharp thoughts shoot me down
Yet my heart yearns for more.
“A monster inside is still a monster,
Even though unseen.”
My panicked fingernails scrape at flesh
Trying to reach my heart at once.
But further and further it flies,
Away from a broken body of lies,
To a new serenity:
A faithful peace,
A glistening hope that will never cease.
A goddess of nightmares
She still haunts my dreams
Her eyes keep me imprisoned
Her tears, as they fall, they gleam.
The magic in her uproots all control in me
I can’t fight it any longer, despite my pleas
Take me now to the place of peace,
Where I can love her,
Unconditionally.
